Summary
This is a 5-lesson English enquiry project, involving students who participate in a bilingual training. The group work takes place in a virtual learning environment created by the teacher in 'Ning', a social networking site. To facilitate information search and discussion, critical thinking and group decisions, another web 2.0 tool - named Wallwisher – is used, where students can post short notices to let the others know about their findings. They also use an online presentation tool – Blogster - to present the selected and structured multimedia information and to back up the oral presentation on a different sub-topics done by each group.
Teaching objectives: Ss are expected to cooperatively process the information they are given, use ICT tools to collaborate and also to present their findings with the help of the aforementioned tools. Also, by working with sensitive materials from 20th
century history, they will be under constant pressure to evaluate and assess everything they are working with. Thus, besides improving their linguistic competence, not only will they better understand what is going on around them, but they will also be required to negotiate conflicting points of view.
